A family practice for all ages & all problems - with over 30 years experience

Alan graduated from the now University of South Australia in 1983. A Bachelor of Podiatry through the school of Heath Sciences is a 4 years full time course and covers all conditions below the knee, including Anatomy, Physiology, Pharmacology and Sports Medicine. 

After graduating, Alan became heavily involved with sport medicine, and has been for almost 30 years. As a Fellow of the Australasian Academy of Podiatric Sports Medicine, he was chosen from Podiatrists throughout Australia to work at the Sydney Para Olympics in 2000 and the Melbourne Commonwealth games in 2006. He has enjoyed volunteer work with several Netball Clubs and attended the Adelaide City Marathon for many years. He was the first Podiatrist to be involved with the Sydney to Melbourne Ultra Marathon. 

As a past President of the Podiatry Association of South Australia, Alan was also involved with maintaining Ethical Standards within the profession. 

Married to Sue, who has run the offices of their Family based practices for almost 30 years, they have 2 adult daughters, both Nurses. 

Spending most of 2010 in England working with the Mid Essex National Health Services, Alan treated many Chronic Diabetic patients with problems ranging from Severe Ulcerations to loss of circulation or sensation in their feet, as well as other forms of problems. Alan has brought his UK experiences and 30 years of Private Practice knowledge together to compliment treating all ages and all problems which include Biomechanics, Alignment, Walking problems, Children’s Developmental issues and Diabetes to name a few. 

 

REBECCA OTTAWAY, Podiatrist, has now joined the Alan Ottaway Podiatry Practices.

Rebecca Lived in Aberfoyle Park and attended Craigburn Primary and Blackwood High Schools.

She worked in Hospitality and studied for her Certificate 3 in Disability Care work and worked for Minda Inc from 2009. Whilst working there she studied to become an Enrolled Nurse, graduating in 2014, when she started working at Flinders Medical Centre.

Whilst working as a Nurse, she started studying A Bachelor of Podiatry at the School of Health Sciences at the University of South Australia.  This is a Full Time, 4 year Medical Course with Anatomy, Physiology, Podiatric Medicine and Biomechanics being just some of the subjects. 

She also did Rural placements In Broken Hill and Whyalla with added experience with the Royal Flying Doctors.

Her main interests include Diabetes, Elderly foot care, Children’s development issues and due to her sporting background, sports related issues.

We welcome her to the practices with her Modern Podiatry ideas and training.
